4.2 Software Release - Official Information
The 4.2 software has officially been released in the US. This thread will offer some information and let users know what to expect with regards to receiving the software. International users should check with their local supplier to know the status of their software update. This thread mainly applies to CEREC users in the US. If you are outside of the US, check with your local representative as to the status of the 4.2 software. If anyone has any questions whatsoever, please do not hesitate to ask here and we will try to get you the proper information as best as we are capable.
What are the New Features of the 4.2 Software? 4.2 contains many new features including a revised patient entry screen, an improved restoration selection screen that allows you to select multiple restorations at once, a new form of the Insertion Axis called Model Axis, and many new tools and features. The software also allows the users to do additional types of restorations such as permanent anterior bridges, abutments, and more. You can find numerous 4.2 videos by going to the Digital Learning Library here: Digital Learning Library What is the Cost of the 4.2 Software? In the US, if you are member of the Patterson Service Club, there is no cost for the software. It is free as a benefit of the Service Club. If you are not a part of the Service Club, there will be an additional cost to purchase the software. Each software package requires a license key to run the software so you will not be able to install the software if you do not have the license key. License keys will be provided with the software. Do I need to Update My Machine to Run the Software? No. You simple need a copy of the software, and a valid license key. You do not need an upgrade of the system to run the 4.2 software. When Will I Receive the Software? Patterson will begin shipping the software starting in early July. PLEASE DO NOT CALL PATTERSON TO ASK WHERE YOUR COPY IS! The software will ship out in batches of a few hundred at a time so that the Patterson team can properly help install and support the CEREC owners. Based on where you are in the list, you may get the software anytime between next month or as late as October or November in some cases. We at cerecdoctors.com or your local Patterson rep or your CEREC Specialist have no control over who receives the software and when they receive it. Just be patient and know that they are shipping out the copies as fast as they can so that all owners receive the software in a timely manner. How Can I Prepare for the Software Release? Simply watch the videos in the Digital Learning section and ask questions here and we will be happy to provide you with whatever support that we can. The software will be shipped with instructions on how to install the software and the process can be done quickly. I have a Bluecam- Do I get a Different Version of the Software than the Omnicam Users? No. The software is the same for the Bluecam and Omnicam. Any previous cases that you have completed will be able to be opened by the 4.2 software. You do not need to keep previous versions of the software on your system. 4.2 is a universal software that will allow you to open previous cases. My Friends Sisters Cousins Uncle Says Not to Install the 4.2 Software Because its Full of Bugs? What Should I do? Any time a software is released by Patterson and Sirona, it has gone through extensive testing with the Beta Testers as well as the engineers and programmers at Sirona and Patterson. While no software will be 100% bug free, you can be assured that the vast majority of the bugs have been eliminated in the testing process. You should absolutely not listen to your friends sisters cousins uncle and when you receive the 4.2 software, install it and enjoy all of the robust features. Chances are that your friends sisters cousins uncle probably still has a red cam and is running the 3.8 software and probably has no idea what the 4.2 software is all about. As new patches and updates are released, we will continue to update the video library so that we can ensure that you have the most up to date information on the latest software version.
