Coming fresh from the IDS- the dental industry's largest trade show, the cerecdoctors.com Mentors (well 60 of them and their spouses anyways) had a chance to see some upcoming products and materials that will hit the shelves soon.
Vita showed off its follow up to Enamic, Suprinity. This is a zirconia reinforced lithium disilicate block. Supposedly it will be available in two different iterations- one a pre-crystallized form that will reach about 200 mpa and another that will need to be fired in an oven for about 13 minutes that will be roughly 450-500 mpa in strength. We will see what the final version ends up being but certainly the stronger version is strong enough that it does not need to be bonded. If it is close to 500 mpa in strength, then for sure I think it will be strong enough for bridges in the posterior- full contour. This certainly looks to be another nice tool in the tool belt of the CEREC user. The scheduled release date for this material will be later this year - Vita says in the fall. As I get more information, I will blog about it and when the material gets closer to release, Ill have a full video on how it works.
