Clinicians Report recently published a study comparing the CEREC milled e.max restorations to lab-fabricated e.max restorations. The lab-fabricated restorations were completed using standard firing protocols developed by Ivoclar. The dentists used firing protocols based on the shortened 12.5-minute firing cycle.
Here is a quote from the study:
"e.max CAD recommended protocol vs. faster fabrication protocols: A fast mill, fast fire protocol to reduce fabrication time to 12.5 minutes was used by dentists chairside in this research. Although Ivoclar states this protocol is "not recommended by the manufacturer" so far, no differences have been seen in any of the 20 graded characteristics between the slower and faster processing protocols."
As you can see, we now have clinically validated results on the e.max fast-fire protocol. More and more clinical evidence seems to be emerging to validate the shortened firing of e.max.
