Sameer Puri D.D.S. With the excitement of the Omnicam – I’ve received a ton of emails regarding the hands-on courses at Scottsdale Center and how Omnicam will be presented. Is Scottsdale Center going all Omnicam for the cerecdoctors.com hands-on courses?
First and foremost, we are expecting delivery of eight Omnicams this week. However, we will continue to keep our Bluecam inventory, because frankly no one has an Omnicam just yet. As an educational facility, our goal is to ensure that our education reflects the desires and needs of the community. Since there is a lot of excitement about the Omnicam but no one really has one yet – the focus of our education for the time being will be how to utilize the Bluecam to its fullest with an emphasis on how what you learn with the Bluecam will apply to the Omnicam.
So the plan for integrating Omnicam with the Levels 2, 3 and 4 courses is simple – the software for CEREC Bluecam and CEREC Omnicam is virtually identical. Over time – as the imaging has gotten easier from Redcam to Bluecam – the emphasis on imaging has been greatly diminished. In fact, other than spending a bit on imaging in Level 2, in the rest of the courses we concentrate more on design and implementation than the actual use of the camera.
If you have been to the Center in the past and have taken our courses, you've heard me say that we like to teach concepts. Once you learn the basic concepts of CEREC – it doesn’t matter the software version or the hardware version – the concepts of CEREC are the same. And once you learn those concepts, we can apply the concepts to future versions.
Over time, as more Omnicams are in the field, we will certainly be able to add more Omnicams to the Center. Shortage of machines is not an issue for us.
So if you are thinking of coming for training or are already scheduled, you will get the best educational experience possible and will learn concepts that will accelerate your learning curve with all hardware and software systems.
