ROI with CEREC

For the last 9+ years, I have been both enjoying the benefits of CEREC technology and preaching it to anyone who would listen.  When people asked about the return on investment (ROI), I would ask them," how many posterior crowns are you doing each month?" or more importantly, "what is your lab bill monthly?"  This was the best way to help determine how many units each month you need to be doing in order to make CEREC profitable in your office.  We told people not to even include anteriors because those are gravy.  We used to be scared to do these restorations in the esthetic zone.  As materials improved and information on how to make them look good became easy to find on cerecdoctors.com and other places, doing anteriors became more common for CEREC users.  I have to say that achieving that ROI breaking point has become even easier with the ability to design custom implant abutments.  My lab costs for custom implant abutments and crowns are just crazy. With the inLab software and taking the level 5 inLab course less than 2 weeks ago, I have created 2 abutments and crowns already.  Having the ability to do these in house will really help to lower the high overhead that most dentists tend to battle with.  If you have a CEREC and tend to restore implants frequently in your practice, you are really missing out by not taking advantage of the technology to it's fullest.
