Here is a new product from 3M that seems intriguing. It is the new Sof-Lex Spiral polisher. These are designed to be used occlusally, inter proximally and on the facial and lingual surfaces of the teeth. The polishers come in two grits- the beige is a finishing grit which means that it will take away material. Once you use this, follow it up with the gray polisher. This is an interesting concept and I will use these and report back to you guys but the design certainly looks promising - especially the hard to reach inter proximal areas of anterior and posterior teeth. These complement the 3M Sof-Lex line of finishers and polishers that we all know and have used for years. The ideal use for us CEREC users seems to be on materials such as LAVA Ultimate that have a resin component to it where polishing the occlusal surface can be a bit challenging at times. Stay tuned for some clinical shots using this product. Ill polish some LAVA inlays and inlays on the next case and will share the results.
